Often there will
appear to be easy solutions to a sensing problem in
that numerous devices exist for the type of measurement
required.
However making a choice can now, perversely, be more difficult. What
accuracy, repeatability, power consumption, size, interface, packaging
etc. are required, and at what cost ? Interpreting device
specifications can be a black art, especially when different parameters
are listed by different manufacturers.
Experience in this area is particularly crucial when
specifying for
medium/high volume applications, and also when an application is very
demanding. Generation of a short list will enable
a sensible test comparison to be made after acquiring examples of each
sensor.
